ALERT: Snow possible - coastal low developing off east coast

A strong low pressure system is forecasted to develop off the east coast later tonight into tomorrow morning. While the low should be far enough offshore to prevent a significant snowfall for the NY Metro area, we will watch it closely as there is a high probability of snow flurries and localized quick bursts of snowfall, especially east of NY City. The snow showers will likely result in an accumulation of a dusting in most areas and up to 2-3 inches in some locations, especially in southern parts of New Jersey, eastern areas in Long Island and coastal Connecticut, where heavier snow showers and snow squals are likely to develop in the early morning hours
