Well it's been over 2 years since the NY metro has had a chance for a big coastal storm that will dump on the big cities along the coast so it's an appropriate time to fire up the old NY Weather News blog and start tracking this one.
We're 84 hours away from the potential snowfall, or in other words, at the point of comically vague and hysterically wide ranging and unhelpful snow estimates. Rather than saying, "there is a potential for a major snow storm mid next week and while the confidence of predicting and exact amount are very low, at this point, a snowfall of 6-10 inches or more is possible," these forecasters very earnestly decided that they should communicate that they have no idea what will happen...
Here are a few from the Twitterverse I thought you might enjoy:
Eric Fisher's funny tweet with a forecast for 2-20" of snow on Twitter:
or this super helful 51-member ensemble model from Weatherbell that NY Metro Weather tweeted showing 0-19"
and finally Kevin Williams' tweet with 20 ensemble members. Great maps Kevin. How about we pick one or two?
